This course requires three books, Emergency Navigation and The Star Finder Book by David Burch, and The Long Term Almanac by Geoffrey Kolbe.

The 2102-D Star Finder will be very handy for this course as a way to verify some of the star steering techniques. If you do not have a sextant, you might consider the Davis Mark 3 model for testing angles and for "calibrating your hands and fingers" for emergency measurements.This is also essentially the sextant of choice for coastal piloting with a sextant.
